In Japan, there are many products that come with “Omake” (the word which means the free extra item in Japanese.) The new items appear daily in the market and sometimes they become a big hit.

The regular product for “Omake” product is snacks for children that come with small toy. In 1980’s, “Bikkuri-man” sticker which came as a free extra item of the chocolate wafer became a huge hit. It also became a social phenomenon since children purchased the snack just to collect stickers and threw away a lot of chocolate wafers.

The convenience store offers the wide range of “Omake” especially that come with beverage in the limited period. There are many items well designed to target the buyers of different products, and examples of such items varies from small figures of anime character or animals, model vehicles to the practical daily items like glass cup and towel.

Recently fashion magazine is becoming one of the popular products that come with “Omake”. The publishers of magazine collaborate with popular fashion blands and they offer items such as bag, pouch, umbrella and wrist watch as “Omake”. This is being established as a part of “Omake” culture.
